Deep Tissue Massage

If you have pains that tend to linger, lack of mobility, or trigger points that do not respond to typical massage techniques, then Deep Tissue Massage may be the solution you need. I’ve developed my particular techniques around the principals of traditional Swedish Massage and Trigger Point Therapy which means I will work long, firm strokes and deep sustained pressure in unison to maximize the therapeutic affects for my clients.

Years ago when I was first beginning my training as a massage therapist, I have had a particular interest in the therapeutic affects of Deep Tissue Massage. I have always had a passion for helping people, and having experienced the benefits myself, I knew I could bring more positive affects to my clients through deep, therapeutic work than any other form of massage. While I appreciate the art of massage in all its forms I continue to experiment with different modalities, I remain convinced there is no better way progress and maintain wellness than regular use of deep tissue massages.

Trigger Point Therapy

A Trigger Point, also known as a knot, is a collection of soft tissue that is not moving/working properly within the body’s typical physiology. These trigger points are most often fibers of specific muscles that are firing when they should release, however Trigger Point can be a catch-all term as it is often used to describe both skin and fascia as well. In all honesty it not always known which part of the anatomy is malfunctioning when I first start working on issues. It can sometimes take a few manipulations of the tissue to understand exactly what is going on beneath the surface to come up with an effective plan to remedy the problem.

Procedure:

  1. Palpation

  2. Priming

  3. Isolation

  4. Trapping

  5. Release

Trigger Point Therapy follows a specific plan within my treatments. I tend to like to start every massage with compressions in which I can palpate the entire body for abnormalities and plan to treat these as efficiently as possible. From there I like to provide long priming strokes to both warm up the muscles for deeper work, and to see what can be relieved without the targeted approach. Next I move on to isolating the malfunctioning tissue from the rest of the anatomy with a combination of deep pressure to both manipulate and further palpate for other issues. After I have a good idea of the extent of a problem, I can move on to trapping the within an area smaller than the mass. Through moving the trigger point multiple directions/angles and content pressure, it will begin to dissolve and reducing the both the malfunction and in turn the pain that accompanies it.

Swedish Massage

This is the most requested modality. Designed around long gliding strokes, Swedish Massage is what comes to most people's mind when they think of the art of massage. It is scientifically proven to reduce stress hormones and promote immune boosting white blood cells.
